Here we help and guide you through building your own amp. A fairly intense few days where we give you the theory and practical knowledge to safely construct and test a valve amplifier.

You go home with a working valve amplifier that you have built!

Previous soldering experience is recommended but not essential, however respect for high voltage is essential. All tools and consumables are provided.

You can choose out of the following kits which amp you would like to build.

2 day course - Choice of 2 single ended 5W amps. Either a Fender Champ style single 6V6 semi clean or a more driven Marshall style single EL84. - Each will be matched with a 8” Speaker and housed in a pine cabinet - Cost of Kit - £395

3 Day Course - Choice of 2 more advanced versions of the above using a full tone stack and bigger output valves ie 6L6 or EL34. - These will be matched with either a 10” or 12” Celestion or Jenson Speaker (your choice). Housed in a pine cabinet. - Cost of kit - £495 (this will vary depending on choice of speaker)

Running up to the course we will talk with you to decide which type of amplifier you want to build and we will then gather all the components for you to get building. We will recommend some background reading and gathering of info so that you go into the course fully prepared.

Following the course we hope that you are confident enough to take on other projects such as adding reverb or a line out function which we can help you with.

On our 1 day course we ask you to bring in your amp which may be working or not. and we will run through with you all the basic tests we would carry out during a repair/ service. If you do not have a suitable amp then we will provide one for you to work and learn on.

We would ask you to do all the work so you gain the experience and knowledge.

The state of the amp that you bring in will usually determine the structure of the day. If it is working and just needs a service then the day will be filled out with more theory, if the amp needs some serious work then it may be a more practical experience.
